A Delightful Display of Diminutive Vintage Sailing Ships

This thrift shop does a wonderful job of whimsically displaying merchandise for sale. Love these little watercraft, sailing across the seashell-strewn shelf.

Cute Calico Turkey Coordinates With Delicately Patterned China

The thrift shop staff chose a great way to display this cute handcrafted turkey, nestled in the pretty set of china in a similar hued pattern.

It would make a great accent piece for a Thanksgiving buffet.

Fun Vintage Find – Cool Wheat Pattern China

Simply graceful, is this lovely wheat patterned china in creamy white and deep, rich green. It’s still on a thrift shop shelf after several weeks, I’m surprised. I’m guessing it’s from the 1970’s?

The shape of the cups resembles those disposable cone shaped solid plastic coffee cup of that time period. I recall one bought a holder for them with a handle, that accommodated their special shape.

Anyone else remember those? I hadn’t thought of them in years.

Fun Thrift Shop Find -Unique Painting of Unknown Origin

Don’t know the history of this interesting painting, but was attracted by it’s contrasting foliage, and the gradual change from dark to light.

Didn’t bring it home. The subject isn’t something I want to feast my eyes upon every day, but I was quite inspired by it. For some reason it’s triggering the impulse to tackle the creation of  a story of fantasy – not my normal genre.

Feel Like You’re Walking Right Out to This Lighthouse . . .

When you hang this lovely framed photo found in a second hand store. I believe it’s on Nantucket, one of the prettiest spots in Massachusetts I’ve not yet seen in person.

Today I watched a DVD which followed an auto tour from Maine to Florida. To my surprise, one of the lighthouses they showed was the one in this picture Brant Point – the identity of which I had not previously known.

I’m ready for a trip northest. It’s been several years since I’ve seen the Atlantic. For now, I’m watching recordings of the old TV show, Wings, set on idyllic Nantucket Island. Though it’s not so idyllic for the characters in the show who live there, as it is with most residents of places tourists see as paradise.

Wherever you go, there you are, and you must find a way to make a living . . . but waking up to attractive scenerey counts for something.

Wasted Wheels?

What’s the story? A future biker outgrows his first Harley? Or, the motor died in this miniature motorcycle discovered by the side of the recycling trailer?

I didn’t have batteries with me to see if the motor within this big ticket toy still runs. Maybe it doesn’t.

But I have often noticed items seemingly still in good condition abandoned at recycling drop sites. Though recycling itself offers a sort of second life for discarded merchandise, I would much rather see unwanted furniture and toys taken to a secondhand shop where they might be rescued by someone who would appreciate them.

Fun Furniture Find for Father’s Day

What dad wouldn’t love this cool recliner featuring themes from all types of sports teams.

Not sure if it came this way from the factory or if a mother, daughter, son, with a talent for upholstering customized it at a later time?

It’s The Easter Beagle!

I don’t know if Snoopy wears a lavender suit like this one, but it was a nice surprise on a dreary spring morning, oddly lying is the middle of a display of china in the window of a  local second hand store.

Fun Thrift Shop Find – Bunny in Blue

Not really a fine art piece, but a treat for those seeking springtime whimsy . . . Wish I’d noticed the birdhouse beside it! One can always use another wren box – the little male birds love to prepare every available home, letting their mates choose a favorite.
